Apple Seeds New GM Build of iOS 4.2 for iPad

So, you may have heard that there have been some WiFi issues with the latest build of iOS 4.2 on the iPad. Well, Apple has quietly responded, by releasing a new build of iOS 4.2 for iPad. It, apparently, fixes these issues.

So, this means we have to wait just a bit longer for iOS 4.2 to go public, but we’re better off, if this serious bug gets worked out. iOS 4.2 isn’t really a big deal for iPhone and iPod Touch, but it brings Folders, Multitasking and more IOS4 features to the iPad, for the first time.

Apple Update iTunes to 10.1

Apple has released version 10.1 of it’s popular media client, iTunes. This latest update brings a few fixes, as well as compatibility for the upcoming iOS 4.2. It is available now via Software Update, or the iTunes download page.

What’s new in iTunes 10.1:

Use AirPlay to instantly and wirelessly stream videos from iTunes to the all-new Apple TV.
Sync with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 4.2.
Provides a number of important stability and performance improvements.

Apple Releases New iPad Commercial – iPad Is Electric [Video]

Apple has released its latest iPad commercial upon the world called “iPad is Electric”.

iOS 4.2 GM Released To Developers. Public Release Soon!

Apple is now allowing access to Xcode and iOS 4.2 SDK GM Seed, build 10M2423, and firmware build 8C134. Registered developers can head over to the Apple iPhone Dev Center to download. The final version of iOS 4.2 is expected to be available sometime this November.

WARNING: If you jailbreak/unlock your iPhone, DO NOT UPDATE right away. iOS 4.2 cannot be jailbroken properly yet, and the baseband that comes with it cannot be unlocked yet. Just be patient, and wait for the tools to be updated. The iPhone Dev Team will have an update for us, shortly after iOS 4.2 is public, and then we’ll know where we stand.

App Reviews: Angry Birds Halloween, Samurai II: Vengeance, Zombiebooth: 3D Zombifier & More!

This week many of the greatest apps on the App Store got an update, plus new versions were released too. With Halloween around the corner, developers are focusing on a scary theme.

Lets start with everybody’s favourite app, Angry Birds.

Rovio released a Halloween theme based Angry Birds that’s not an update but a separate app. Everything is pretty much the same except the background is a bit changed with spooky music. This is available for both iPhone and iPod Touch, and an HD version is also available for iPad.

You can check it out on the iTunes for $0.99.

Next we have is the sequel to the amazing game, Samurai: Way of the Warrior, and this one is called Samurai II: Vengeance – MADFINGER

If you’ve played the last version of this game, you’d probably know that it required only one finger, but things are a bit different now as the new version has a few buttons. Personally, I like the graphics and gameplay on this one but i miss the one finger slashing with bloody rage, and slashing the enemy in half like cutting an apple. Oh well…I guess that’s the way it is now. I recommend you trying this game out on iTunes for $2.99, believe me, it’s definitely worth it.

This one gave me the chills… literally! ZombieBooth: 3D Zombifier has got to be the scariest and most bone chilling app I have ever tried. Perhaps it’s just me or this is one scaaaaarrryyyyyy app.

Basically you put up a picture of you or anyone of your friends, and this automatically edits the picture into the scariest thing you can imagine. Plus the 3D effect makes your picture a video. The picture would automatically move, blink and make scary sounds, and if you touch the screen, it will nibble off your finger.

If you have a heart condition, this app is not for you. You were WARNED. Try it out for $0.99

This epic little app is not all scary, but it can be if you put a mustache on your wife, or maybe a Mohawk on your grandma. Barbershop has got to be the best *hairy* app I’ve tried so far. Using barbershop, you can put mustaches, weird hairdos, or epic beard, all for $0.99

A free version is available too called, Barbershop Freecuts, but it has less hairdos and other hairy stuff.

Hairstylez is the Female versi0n of barbershop. Try it out if you’re a chick but that doesn’t mean you Guy-chicks can’t try this $1.99 especially for you, no bargain, no refund!

If I Was Steve Jobs, I’d Be $20 BILLION Richer Right Now

Apple let us in on their statistics of their forth quarter and I’ve got to say my jaws dropped when I first saw it. I’m still checking again and again if it was a billion or million because I’m still in a state of shock.

According to Apple’s official report, “the company posted record revenue of $20.34 billion and net quarterly profit of $4.31 billion, or $4.64 per diluted share. These results compare to revenue of $12.21 billion and net quarterly profit of $2.53 billion, or $2.77 per diluted share, in the year-ago quarter. Gross margin was 36.9 percent compared to 41.8 percent in the year-ago quarter. International sales accounted for 57 percent of the quarter’s revenue.”

Now I’m warning you, the next piece of information might give you sleepless nights. Ready? Ok here goes:

“Apple sold 3.89 million Macs during the quarter, a 27 percent unit increase over the year-ago quarter. The Company sold 14.1 million iPhones in the quarter, representing 91 percent unit growth over the year-ago quarter. Apple sold 9.05 million iPods during the quarter, representing an 11 percent unit decline from the year-ago quarter. The Company also sold 4.19 million iPads during the quarter.”

Jaws dropped? Good, because that’s what Steve Jobs wants.

I mean it’s unbelievable that a company can do so well in just a few months. You may wonder “What is Apple going to do with all this money?” Well, it’s irrelevant right now but Apple may buy out FACEBOOK. Yeah….that’s right…FACEBOOK.

Three days ago Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerburg, owner of Facebook, had a date. Yeah thats right…a DATE!

Mark was invited to Mr. Jobs pad and they had a long talk, plus a long walk. Maybe they were discussing about Facebook and Ping, Apple’s social network, or maybe Steve had something else in mind. *wink wink*

According to some information I’ve collected the past day, Apple has a solid $51 Billion in banks, which is more than enough to clean sweep Facebook for life.

So what now? Well, Santa is going to bring the iPhone 4 in White this Christmas, which means more money for Apple reserved before 2011.

A Mac event on 20th October will probably have new Macbooks up its sleeve (again more money before 2011).

I guess Apple should now buy a country and name it “iSteve”

Is This The Next iPad?

Apple decides to take over the world with its products and it succeeds. What now? Well… let’s just say they know how to blow our minds with whatever new device they make.

Earlier this year, Apple released the iPad. Some people said its just a bigger iPhone, it’s a useless device, it dropped notebooks sales by half, and of course there are some who worship Steve Jobs for this epic device.

The iPad changed “the way we use the internet”, and we know Apple creates newer and better models of all their devices each year. What’s the next iPad going to look like? What’s it called? What new features would it hold? How would it benefit our lives? WHAT IS THE NEXT iPAD?

Joy Studios let us in on what they think is the next version of the iPAD.

CAMERA: It has two cameras, one at the back and one at the front. The back camera may have 5 megapixels or more to compete with other tablets such as Samsung Galaxy S and Black Berry Playbook. The front camera may have 2.0 or 3.2 megapixel camera with FaceTime support, as the new iPod Touch.

DESIGN: It may resemble the iPhone 4 or may have a completely new design that we’ve never seen before. It may be thin and little lighter since Steve Jobs appreciates “big things in small packages.”

BUTTONS: The next iPad may NOT have a home button on the bottom because a few days ago, Apple signed up for a patent that would allow users to use devices with the touch of their fingers. This technology would only work with the human finger and nothing else. So if you keep your iPad in a case or bag, there would be nothing to worry about as ur iPad would only respond to the touch of your skin. Is this possible? HEY! This is Apple we’re talking about.

SIZE: Since the iPad was released to the general public, rumors surfaced on the internet about a Mini iPad that’s smaller than the current iPad, but bigger than the iPhone. This may be to compete with Samsung Galaxy S as it can be held with one palm and not the other hand.

DOCK: Earlier this month, rumors surfaced on the internet that the iPad would have two charging docks, one for landscape and one for portrait orientation. According to the sources of “ENGADGET”, this was a design created but was later rejected, so this may not happen after all.

USB PORTS: It’s a shame that the iPad currently doesn’t support USB slots as this would be really useful for transferring data between the iPad and other devices. But with iPad 2, this may be possible. The market demands to have everything in one device. Basically everyone wants to replace their laptops with iPads, but due to iPads lack of compatibility, people can’t replace their good ol’ laptops. With USB ports, this may finally be a reality.

DISPLAY: Seems like Apple is in love with the Retina Display in the iPhone 4, so it included that into the iPod Touch 4G. But would they add it to the iPad? This is Apple we’re talking about and they can do pretty much whatever they want. In my opinion, this would greatly affect the battery life as Retina Display requires more power.

BATTERY: The battery life would definitely increase as with the advancement of technology, more things are possible now. We saw this on the iPhone 4 as Apple increased the battery size as well as the duration it would hold.

GYROSCOPE: Yes, iPad 2 may have the gyroscope that’s present in iPhone 4. This would greatly benefit users who play a lot of games on their iPads.

MEMORY: According to some leaked information provided by “ENGADGET”, the iPad 2 would come in 128 GB models too. Personally I think that there would be 3 models: 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB. I also think that Apple would discard the 16GB models because come on, iPad with 16 GB? That’s yesterdays news.

RAM: iPad currently has 256 MB ram which is really less for a device like that. Apple would most probably increase the RAM from 256 to 512 MB or even more. Who knows what Mr. Jobs has in mind.

PRICE: With all the new features we think the next iPad would hold, the price would definitely increase. I mean come on, Steve Jobs certainly doesn’t want to get bankrupt, now does he.

AVAILABILITY: New rumors have surface the internet that iPad 2 would be released before Christmas. In my opinion, this cannot happen as the white iPhone is already delayed to later this year. Releasing both the white iPhone and iPad 2 together would be a stupid move for Apple, and it hasn’t even been a year since iPads release. So you can expect iPad 2 to be released sometime in the first half of 2011.

OVERVIEW: Whenever something new is created, it always has bugs and needs to be fixed and improved. Take the first iPhone for example. The iPhone has been perfected over the years to match the users requirements. Similarly, the first iPad is just a test. The next version would definitely be a really different technology and would be something to talk about. The next iPad would most probably be nothing like anything we’ve seen before, it’s going to change everything,”all over again.”

So, you may have noticed some changes around here. The past week has been incredibly busy for us! A little while ago, we decided to change the way we do things, and what we write about. We love reporting on Apple news, rumours, and stuff, but our hearts are in the jailbreak community. We decided to split things up and open a new site dedicated to jailbreaking.

The problem was, we didn’t want to just start from scratch. We looked around for a domain that suited us, and that was easily recognizable as a place to learn about the jailbreak community. In searching for a new domain, we stumbled upon www.iJailbreak.com. Those of you who have been around for a while will remember this as one of the early jailbreak blogs, from Chronic Dev Team member AriX. After some discussions, we were able to acquire the domain from him, and we have just redesigned and re-launched the site.

So, what does this mean for iEvolution? It will still be here, don’t worry, but our focus here will be more on Apple news, Apple rumours, product, and app reviews; things we have brought you all along. The change will be that, all news on jailbreaking and unlocking will now be posted over at www.iJailbreak.com. Hope to see you there!

Apple has updated it’s Remote application for the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad, bringing fixes for a number of bugs and includes performance and stability enhancements.

New in version 2.0.1:

Addresses a problem browsing artists with a large number of albums.
Addresses some issues waking up computers when using Home Sharing.

Apple Releases iOS 4.2 beta3 to Developers

Earlier today, Apple released iOS 4.2, beta 3, and the SDK to go along with it, to developers. iOS 4.2 is available for the iPad, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G, iPod Touch 4th gen, iPod Touch, 3rd gen, and iPod Touch 2nd, gen.

Also available today is iTunes 10.1 beta 2. You’ll need this and the latest beta of OS X 10.6.5. iOS 4.2 beta 3 is only for developers and is not recommended for everyday use.

If you jailbreak and unlock your device, stay away from this beta. There is no jailbreak for this firmware or unlock for this baseband. – rorypiper
