I can’t believe it! Rogers actually released some info on the iPhone 4 launch! They have a great write up on the Red Board blog. Here’s all the details you need to know for upgrading to the iPhone 4 tomorrow. rorypiper

Here are the general guidelines about the iPhone 4 special hardware upgrade:

Did you activate or upgrade your Rogers iPhone on a term contract between January 1, 2009 and June 7, 2010?
Then you’re eligible for at least $250 off the no-term device price. That’s an iPhone 4 16GB/32GB for $399/$499 on a new 3-year voice and data plan.

Did you activate or upgrade your Rogers iPhone on a term contract on or before December 31, 2008?
Thank you for your business. You’re eligible for at least $480 off the no-term device price. You can pick up an iPhone 4 16GB/32GB for $159/$269 on a new 3-year voice and data plan.

Did you activate or upgrade the original iPhone 3G in 2008 and then upgrade again between June 19 and September 15, 2009?
You’re also eligible for at least $480 off the no-term device price. You can pick up an iPhone 4 16GB/32GB for $159/$269 on a new 3-year voice and data plan.

How do I check my eligibility for this special iPhone 4 hardware upgrade program?
The easiest way for you to check your hardware upgrade eligibility is throughwww.rogers.com/iPhone. Aside from this special iPhone 4 offer, regular hardware upgrade program policies apply. If you take advantage of this early hardware upgrade offer, your new 3-year term will begin immediately. Savings under this special upgrade program are determined based upon the length of time remaining in your existing term and the specifics of your selected plans.

Any news for new iPhone 4 customers?
New customers can purchase a 16GB iPhone 4 for $159 or a 32GB iPhone 4 for $269, each with a new three-year voice and data plan on Canada’s proven and reliable network. With Rogers, you get unlimited access to Rogers WiFi hotspots for free as well as unlimited social networking to the top seven communities in all iPhone data plans and our Handset Protection Gurantee. The Handset Protection Guarantee is subject to terms and conditions. To read the full program terms, go to http://www.rogers.com/protection.

What about Fido customers?
Fido also has a special iPhone 4 promotion for its customers. For customers who entered into a Fido agreement on or before June 7, 2010 and want to upgrade early to iPhone 4, Fido will provide a special iPhone 4 discount by way of a bill credit of between $250 and $490. In addition, customers may contribute all accumulated FidoDollars towards their upgrade. Go to www.fido.ca/iphone for full details.

How to get your iPhone 4
Worldwide demand for the iPhone has been high and quantities are limited. At launch, the iPhone 4 will only be available at Rogers stores and authorized retailers, and not byCustomer Care or Rogers.com. We recommend you contact your local Rogers retailer to confirm units are in stock. Our goal is to get an iPhone 4 into the hands of every customer who wants one, so visit www.rogers.com/iphone to find updates about stock levels.

So, you probably have heard that Apple has released a new beta of iOS 4.1 to developers. We are guessing this will be available to the public in the fall, but there are folks out there installing it now. We recommend you stay away from it, for now, but it’s your choice. rorypiper

It turns out that the awesome jailbreak tool, Redsn0w, still works to jailbreak this latest beta. You need Redsn0w 0.9.5 b5-5. When you run Redsn0w, just make sure you point to the original iOS 4 firmware (see the screenshot). It is the same process as our tutorial on jailbreaking iOS 4.0.1 with Resn0w, and you can check that out here.

A couple things you should know: this is only for iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G. Also, the baseband has been updated in this beta, so if you need to unlock your iPhone, stay away from iOS 4.1 beta2.

When I was a kid, I always loved going to my local planetarium because it was just cool! Getting a day where I don’t have to be in school and go on a field trip was just awesome! Every time I went, the experience just blew me away. There was a robot projector that came out of the ground and talked to us ( there as a guy using a mic in the back that I didn’t know at the time ) and told us all about our solar system on the largest screen I have ever experienced. We got to sit back and relax in our tilted chairs as we watched the simulated star filled sky. Those day’s were awesome.

Do you remember those days? What if you could re live those days. What if you could take that experience and have it in your hands and use it on your iPad? Would you be as excited as I was when I heard of this opportunity?

Star Walk goes for $4.99 in the App Store

DOWNLOAD THE APP

The developers at Vito Technology Inc. bring you an experience that you do not want to miss with Star Walk for the iPad. At first I didn’t really know what to expect. I mean, I knew what experience I had in the planetarium, but come on, there was no way someone could simulate that and put it in my hands! Right? Wrong! Star Walk brings the planetarium experience that you love and put’s it into your hands so you have control of what you want to see. If you want to check out a solar system and know how to find it, just use your fingers and you are there! If you want to know the exact coordinates of your favorite planet, find out what time the sun rises and sets where you live, or even just check out what Orion is doing on his belt, Star Walk can make it happen! So as cool as having a man controlled robot is, being able to control the stars and galaxies that you want to see becomes a surreal experience.

I know that I have been using the word experience a lot in this review, but in all honesty, I really do not want you to miss out on what this app actually is. It is an experience! It not only shows you the gem that the iPad is, but how far the creative minds go at Vito Technology Inc.

I give this app a 10/10 rating in my books because I love seeing the different parts of the created earth and galaxies. But I’m no astro boy that can fly into outer space and see the stars for myself other than leaving my house and looking up! This app was also created for the iPhone, but would definitely recommend ( if you have an iPad ) to get the iPad version. If you just have an iPhone then get that version too!

We are also giving away a promo code for Star Walk for the iPad. Just write us a comment below of who your favorite Star Wars character is and why? Could they beat up Chewy in a hand to hand combat? No use of the “force” powers, just straight hand to hand combat.

First up is the ZAGG invisibleSHIELD

The ZAGG company right off the bat has some very unique attributes if you decide to pick their case, such as:

Scratch Proof

Lifetime Warranty

45 day money back guarantee

Trusted worldwide with over 7 million invisibleSHIELDs sold

Military grade patented material engineered for your specific device

Unique properties provide self-healing qualities

Helps reduce the appearance of fingerprint smudges and smears

Now to the case itself, the ZAGG invisibleSHIELD is a clear film which offers a wide range of protection for your device including:

Durability – Self-healing properties offer unbelievable resistance to scratches and damage, and will extend the life of your device.

Coverage – Greater pliability and flexibility allows the invisibleSHIELD™ designs to cover the corners and curves of your device better than the competition.

Ease of Install – The improved pliability also facilitates easier installation.

Drop Resistant – Improved grip makes it easier to hang onto your expensive gadgets.

Glare Reduction – The invisibleSHIELD gives your device a slight “orange peel” finish that breaks up glare and reduces finger print smudges, while still creating high res screen viewing clarity.

But what’s in the box?

ZAGG invisibleSHIELD

ZAGG solution

ZAGG squeegie

Niko’s opinion:

Great scratch proof case, however the orange peel affect is a negative, but it’s still a great product.

Now it’s time to meet the Ghost-Armor.

The Ghost-Armor Company offers the following:

30-Day Money Back Guarantee

LIFETIME Warranty

No Bulk Added

Reduces Grease

Clear Scratch Proof Protection

Improved Grip

FedEx Shipping

Ships within 1-2 business days

As far as what the case offers, there is an answer for that, well maybe a few answers:

You’ll receive the same extreme protection for your Apple iTouch 2nd Gen that the military helicopter blades, fighter jets wingtips and the space shuttle’s wingtips receive.

Without bulk, creases, bubbles, or that orange peel look.

Protection from scratches and dings.

Lifetime Warranty.

Repels grease and oils.

So what’s in the Box?

1 Apple iTouch 2nd Gen Ghost-Armor

1 Spray Bottle of Ghost-Armor Application Solution

1 Squeegee

Niko’s Opinion:

Great case with scratch proof and smudge proof protection, basically beat up ZAGG, and no orange peel affect, hooray! (the iTouch 2nd generation is the device that both cases were applied to for testing)

Who is the winner?

I’m giving the win to Ghost-Armor on this one! Amazing quality, scratch proof, no smudges, and no orange peel affect. Great job Ghost-Armor!

This week Apple updated their iMac lineup. The 21.5-inch and 27-inch machines now offer more processing power and better graphics performance.

Now the iMacs offer Intel’s Dual Core i3, i5 and quad-core i5 and i7 configurations.

The graphics got a bit of a boost as well. Apple has chosen to use ATI Radeon HD 4670 (256MB of GDDR3 memory) for the low-end 21.5-inch, Radeon HD 5670 (512MB of GDDR3 memory) for the mid-range 27-inch and the Radeon HD 5750 (1GB of GDDR3 memory) for the high-end 27-inch models.

According to a recent Apple press release, the options set new benchmark records.

“Dual-core Intel Core i3 and Core i5, and quad-core Core i5 and Core i7 processors set a new benchmark for iMac performance. The processors feature an integrated memory controller to access the system memory directly, allowing the new iMac to take full advantage of its faster 1333 MHz memory.”

Not only that, you’re able to call their number, find it’s GPS location, connect to their web site, e mail, and text straight from the picture of the card. I think that Penpower Technology Ltd. is the best business card reader/organizer company out there. And if you have a business, this app is the right choice for you!

Although this app is amazing, I have to say that combining the tech of World Card Contacts with the tech World Card Mobile, would be a great option. I am no master at coding, or even know if it is possible to add both apps together, but maybe it could work? And if it does, then I think it will become even more convenient to the business owner as they will not need to have 2 different apps.

The app is $5.99 in the App Store

Located below is a video that further describes what this great app does!

DOWNLOAD THE APP

We are also giving away 5 promo codes to any one who can show us a picture of the funniest/most creative business card that they have. It can either be your own, or some other company, but make sure you won’t get in trouble for showing it. And please, no sketchy pics of sketchy business cards.

Plantebeing is the father of the Android on iPhone project, but Sergiomcfly, along with the help of the guys at iDroid, have streamlined the entire process.

iPhodroid is a simple easy to use loader that simply takes one click to install Froyo, an Android OS, on the iPhone 3G.

Download iPhodroid here.

In order to use iPhodroid, you need to have a 3G:

Running 3.1.2.

Jailbroken using Redsn0w

Have SSH enabled

Remember, if you downgrade your device you won’t be able to restore from a backup unless you upgrade to the version you backed up from.

When you’re ready to get started open iPhodroid and enter the necessary fields. (iPhone IP address, computer admin password and SSH password.)

Wait as Terminal runs the necessary commands. (It took me around eight minutes) When the installation is complete you’ll be prompted to put your phone in recovery mode.)

Now you’ve got two options:

Click install to install OpeniBoot so can you can choose which OS you want boot when you start your phone

Click Froyo to run Android

Boot Menu

Installing the Linux kernels.

There you have it. Now you can install apps from the Marketplace and enjoy the Android experience on your iPhone.

If you want to remove Android simply run iPhodroid from your desktop and click install.
