Product Review: Ghost Armor for iPad

There are so many different cases, skins, and other protection for your devices on the market. It can be hard to pick the right one. With Apple products, I typically really like the design, and don’t always want to cover it up case and a skin.

When Dusty and I went down to the US to get our iPads on launch day, we were stopped in the mall by this company called Ghost Armor, that makes clear protection for a bunch of different devices. They were showing off their new iPad Armor, at the time. To me, it looked better than any other clear protection I had seen. They offered to do the install, right there in the mall, but we didn’t have time to stick around.

When I got back to Canada, I looked everywhere for Ghost Armor products, but couldn’t find anything. I contacted the company, and they were nice enough to send a full body iPad Armor kit to review. When they say “full body”, they don’t just mean front and back. The Ghost Armor Full Body iPad kit, comes with protection for all surfaces, application spray, and a squeegee.

If you’re familiar with the InvisibleSHIELD from ZAGG, then there’s not much more to explain. It provides clear protection for many devices, but Ghost Armor’s protection seems smoother. You can’t even tell there’s anything on the screen. You don’t get that “orange peel” effect, which makes the Ghost Armor more resistant to greasy finger smudges. They seem to wipe right off, with the very finger that put the smudge there in the first place.

The installation is fairly simple, but patience is the key. This video, from Ghost Armor shows how it should be done.

I would definitely recommend Ghost Armor to anyone. They are not readily available in Canada, but you can order direct from their website: www.Ghost-Armor.com. The iPad Armor goes for $24.99 for the front and $24.99 for the back, or you can get the full body kit for only $34.99. They also sent me an iPhone 4 Armor, that I can’t test out until I get an iPhone 4, but I can only assume the install will be even easier. The iPhone 4 Armor goes for $14.99 for the fornt, $14.99 for the back, or just $24.99 for the full body kit. Ghost Armor is definitely worth checking out.
