How To: Enable Emoji Icons On iOS 4.0 and 4.0.1 For Free

If you’re like me and express yourself with smileys when SMS, emailing or IM. Emoji Free is what you require! Emoji is the Japanese term for emotions or picture characters used in Japanese wireless messages and webpages.

We posted about Cydia applications EmojiEnabler and Emoji Toggle, unfortunately these apps don’t work with iOS 4.0 and 4.0.1. This guide will show you how to enable Emoji on iOS 4.0 and 4.0.1.

Step 1: Download Emoji Free from the App Store (iTunes link).

Step 2: Launch Emoji Free and tap “ok, lets do this!”.

Step 3: You should now see “installing…”.

Let it finish installing and proceed with the following steps:

  • quit this app
  • open the device settings
  • go to:
    • General
    • Keyboards
    • International Keyboards
    • Japan
  • turn the Emoji switch ON
  • relaunch Emoji Free

Step 4: Enjoy!
