How to: Replacing LCD/Digitizer Assembly on iPhone 3G
My old iPhone 3G has had a faulty screen for a while now, and I finally decided to get it fixed. What happened, is it got dropped one too many times. The display just went white, with a few grey lines. The touch interface seemed to work fine, but you couldn’t see anything. After looking around for a part for it, the good folks at Mobile Parts Discount said they could help me out.
Replacing the display is pretty simple, as long as you have some kind of experience working with small parts. Basically, there are 2 screws on the bottom that are removed. Then you pry up the display, from the bezel. You have 3 connectors to detach. That’s it. Just work in reverse to install the new one.
Here’s our video of the repair:
Big thanks to Mobile Parts Discount for suppling the part I needed. Check out their website for any iDevice part you might need, including the new iPhone 4. You can also follow them on Twitter: @iPhonePD rorypiper
