iTunes 9.2 Released. Stay Away, if You Plan to Use Spirit
Apple has officially launched iTunes 9.2. This update is mainly for compatibility with iOS 4, which should be released next Monday. Unlike the beta, the official release will run on OS X and Windows.
A warning from the jailbreak community: iTunes 9.2 is not compatible with the Spirit jailbreak. If you plan to jailbreak your iPad, or your iPhone/iPod Touch on OS 3.1.3 with Spirit, do not install iTunes 9.2. Also, in case you didn’t know already, Spirit will not jailbreak iOS 4. Apple has fixed the exploit used for that jailbreak in the newest firmware.
Comex, creator of the Spirit jailbreak posted this warning on his Twitter:
DO NOT UPDATE TO ITUNES 9.2 IF YOU ARE USING SPIRIT until I learn what’s going on.
It has been confirmed the iPhone Dev Team, on their Twitter, that it is okay to install iTunes 9.2 if you use Pwnage Tool or Redsn0w.
