Twitter Purchased Tweetie & Becomes Free
Twitter announced yesterday on their blog, they purchased Tweetie, an iPhone application available in the App Store, from creator Loren Brichter. Tweetie will be renamed Twitter for iPhone and released in the iTunes App Store for free (Currently it’s $2.99).
Loren Brichter will join the Twitter team and will be working to provide a Twitter app for the iPad. Evan Williams didn’t mention when the iPad app might be released or pricing, assuming free. There is also a desktop version of Tweetie too.
Tweetie will be renamed Twitter for iPhone and made free (currently $2.99) in the iTunes AppStore in the coming weeks. Loren will become a key member of our mobile team that is already having huge impact with device makers and service providers around the world. Loren’s work won the 2009 Apple Design Award and we will eventually launch Twitter for iPad with his help.
Congratulations to all involved, we look forward to your work!
