Apple Rolls Out New Updated iMacs
This week Apple updated their iMac lineup. The 21.5-inch and 27-inch machines now offer more processing power and better graphics performance.
Now the iMacs offer Intel’s Dual Core i3, i5 and quad-core i5 and i7 configurations.
The graphics got a bit of a boost as well. Apple has chosen to use ATI Radeon HD 4670 (256MB of GDDR3 memory) for the low-end 21.5-inch, Radeon HD 5670 (512MB of GDDR3 memory) for the mid-range 27-inch and the Radeon HD 5750 (1GB of GDDR3 memory) for the high-end 27-inch models.
According to a recent Apple press release, the options set new benchmark records.
“Dual-core Intel Core i3 and Core i5, and quad-core Core i5 and Core i7 processors set a new benchmark for iMac performance. The processors feature an integrated memory controller to access the system memory directly, allowing the new iMac to take full advantage of its faster 1333 MHz memory.”
